SIV visa for afghan and iraq nationality

Individuals who served in Iraq or Afghanistan as interpreters or translators for the forces of the United States or under the direction of a head of mission are eligible for this special immigrant visa program. This program, which grants visas to fifty persons each year, is still in place.

If you meet all of the requirements listed below, you may apply for this program:

You must be an Afghan or Iraqi national. Additionally, you must have spent at least a year working as an interpreter or translator directly with the US Armed Forces or under COM authority.

Steps for SIV visa :

  • Filing form, I-360 and it should include your original signature
  • A copy of passport with a certified English translation or national ID card
  • Proof of working as a translator with US force for at least one year
  • Recommendation letter from department which you worked
  • After gathering all the documents and submission the NVC process will start and the visa authority will re processing and creating a case number with a welcoming message
  • Complete the online visa form Ds-260 along with your family members
  • After completion of Ds-260 form you and your family members must collect the civil documents, its important that all document must be translated in English language by certified translator in your country
  • After you collected all your documents you should scan it in pdf format and each individual file must be no longer then 4mb
  • After you finished scanning all of your documents you send them to the official email address NVCSIV@state.gov after sending your application you will receive an automatic message and it will take eight weeks for you application to check by the authority board.
